Hey i’m diego and i’m from mexico and i would like to spend 2 weeks this july learning and improving my polo and horseback ridin skills i’d apreciate if you can explain me how does this works i mean i suppose i will sleep in the ranch and we’ll spend the whole day practicing and stuff, but how will it cost me per day…

Hi Steve,

Tom Goodspeed just opened a facility in Wisconsin where you can stay and learn to play polo. He has indoor and outdoor facilities and it is all on site at his farm. It looks really nice. Here is a link to an article about it …

Do you all know of any polo summer camps. Mark Prinsloo does weekend schools in the summer here in houston, but we have some parents looking for full time camps. I couldn’t think of any. Any help would be appreciated.

Who is responsible for causing horse injury on the polo field at the line-up? The horse owner who’s horse did the kicking without any provocation or the horse owner who’s horse got kicked by? What kind of polo standards are we setting as polo players? Is it a personal ethic issue?

Hi,
I am a polo player and am investigating possibilities of setting up some beach polo on the West Coast of South Africa. I urgently require relevant beach polo criteria. Field dimensions/depth or thicknessof sand/ball/do we use tractor to drag field surface or roll field surface between chukkers?
Could someone let me have this info urgentley?

A great overview of the impact that a pony must sustain in order to play polo! Incredible sport whose training depends on two ‘players’ for a single player on the field. The training of a horse and a rider takes years! Thanks for the great info.

52 inches! You’re either very tall or playing big horses. You normally need a 50 and a 51 and that covers the vast majority of horses you’re ever likely to play; since you’re female, maybe a 49 and a 50? I assume you’re playing arena polo and those ponies tend to be smaller and handier than field polo, so not sure why a 52 is needed.

Also, why do Americans call them mallets? Mallets are for croquet. The rest of the world calls them sticks.
